The FPS is the Firmware Package Support[1]. It have CPU, memory controller,

Intel already have accusations about backdoor on this [8].
OpenBSD don't allow this to run.

- Blobs on GPU. It run a Intel Iris Pro 5200, that is VBIOS closed;

[Trisquel-users] Gnome Flashback (gnome-flashback-session gnome-panel) aka Trisquel's DE

2013-09-30 Thread zatroch

Hello All,

we are pleased to announce the release of Gnome Panel 3.8.0. This is what the
Gnome Flashback team has been
working on in the last months. We are glad to achieve compatibility with the
Gnome 3.8 stack just hours

before the final Gnome 3.10 release. ;-)

This is the first release that ships a session descriptor and wrapper script
for the Gnome Flashback
session. This is similar to the standalone fallback session previously
shipped in Debian / Ubuntu. As
integration with the rest of the Gnome stack has suffered somewhat, this is
mainly aimed at distributions
that still want to support a metacity / gnome-panel based desktop (e.g. for
LTSP installations). Some
integration work may be necessary - for example, nautilus 3.8 no longer draws
the X root window background.

The Gnome Flashback team was born in December 2012 out of a shared desire to
continue work on the
discontinued Gnome Fallback mode based on metacity and gnome-panel. We have
invited people from downstream
and derived desktops that have shared interests, e.g. the MATE team, to
collaborate or join the Gnome
Flashback team, and would like to explicitly renew this invitation.
Gnome-Panel 3.8 is a mature port of the
classical Gnome-Panel to Gnome 3 technologies, like GTK+ 3 and
DConf/GSettings. (A metacity port to GTK+ 3
would also well be within the scope of Gnome Flashback.) We usually meet on
the gnome-flashback-list gnome

org .

With kind regards,
Philipp Kaluza (for the Gnome Flashback Team)

Re: [Trisquel-users] Fear and Uncertainty - Trisquel 7.0

2013-06-27 Thread zatroch

My understandment of project health is as following:
1.| The creator - Rubén - has his very own life difficulties in Galicia
region of Spain. Perhaps his brother, who commited to what Trisquel
represents now, too.

2.| Progress made on Sugar environment, additional Dextrose tools and OLPC
hardware enablement (perhaps including reverse-engineering?!) during his
dayjob makes him more fulfilled overall (unquestionably), because the next
generation of children should be aware of Software, Societal Digital
Freedom in regards with mesh (ad-hook) networking as well.

3.| I agree on hackers' resource waste concerning gNewSense vs. Debian
project, the only logic in this is that the Debian GNU/Linux guys do not
officialy support and pre-build packages for MIPS computing architecture
(thou am curious about whole MIPS know-how in hands of Imagination
Technologies corp. and blobbed pre-requisities for their upcoming Warrior
chips; still waiting for more proper revisions of China designed Longsoon 3A
/ 3B units inside of worldwide available SoC-s.

4.| Toutatis with LTS point releases will be sufficient to my needs for the
foreseeable future, although users of nVidia graphic cores along with Nouveau
KMS drivers are dying and longing for the most current software stack, either
because of important regressions / bug fixes, added features or enhanced
stability and drawing responsivenes (do not get me wrong guys, Intel driver
is just way more mature and time tested).

5.| Myself am no expert in CLA-s and license exploitation, but I expect more
lock-in ahead with Ubuntu upstream since more and more Microsofties (senior
staff) get introduced and involved from within - it is like cancer you know
or mole rush (Barnes  Noble? Ruined, check. Skype? Ruined, check. Nokia?
Ruined, check. Dell? Ruined, check. Hewlett-Packard? Ruined, check. And of
course Novell/SuSE.. Double-check.) I was talking about introduction of Mir.
In this case I am on par with devs employed by Digia, Intel, Samsung and
others who strongly advocate and support Wayland / temporary XWayland.

6.| Focus on light-weight DE / WM-s is not worth it. If necessary, then I
would go for Razor-qt or Openbox dwm. Forget the LXDE, Xfce, MATE,
Cinnamon, forking issue altogether. GNOME and KDE is for the mass being
introduced in here, switching from Windows and Macintosh.

7.| FSF and Debian Project Leader should finish off the remaining
philosophical incompatibility asap, because there is no chance about Red Hat
giving up non-free firmware and tainted kernel in comminity led Fedora
(Speaking of this, note that many of their employees use Windows on their
boxes daily and just from inside of virtual machines they test, develop and
maintain range of products - this was told to me by a guy who worked in their
network lab for a longer period before - actually he was mine idol before
swapping his honourable aims for easier to get greed).

8.| I am saddened by lengthy legal review processes inside AMD/ATI management
and need for binary files in order to make use of acceleration and playback
decoders. This can be triumphed only by unfair practices pushed against
adoption of salvation standards like WebRTC, SPDY, WebGL, HTML5 and libre
codecs e.g. Opus, Daala, VP9/WebM.

9.| There needs to be a social movement against these f**kers and
establishment support by creating multiple political-activism groups in
similar manner to Pirate Parties. Also, consumers should pressure the
manufacturers to release specs and get rid of global-scale trade secrets as
enforced by treaties like TPP agressively exported from U.S. elsewhere.

10.| Dear Trisquel community, I appeal on you, stop trolling and pushing camp
dividing agenda. One schizophrenic Linux news portal and (in)famous test
suite.. such opinion skewing is handy to big market players and marketers.

Tried on my own as well, alternative Mesa Xorg stack booted okay with
provided 3.5 kernel or Jason's current 3.9.2 if you want. The problem was
elsewhere, first I thought it made use of LLVM-pipe CPU rendering back-end or
so, but then I realized that incorrect resolution [only up to 1280x1024
(5:4)] appeared there in options because of VESA driver used as opposed to
Radeon KMS-one.

Still I am aware of the mess with tainted firmware in case of any decent
AMD/ATi chip.. RS880's onboard HD4250 in this specific HW build.

stack pushing on track with you users of this fully-libre GNU/Linux
distribution.

Since we are based on upstream Ubuntu Debian GNU/Linux after all, it is
good to know about upcoming changes within maintenance process ahead.

I have noticed some packages being built with version bump of 12.04.2 within
Toutais' repos already, however we better watch out for related kernel work
(3.5.x | and yes I am aware of two additional personal package archives of
jxself and dns with recent linux-libre). I do state this mostly because I
assume new packages were meant to be incorporated into toutatis-security
toutatis-updates repositories, instead of not-recommended
not-adequately-treated backports repository.

Post Scriptum: One more week till hugely expected Trisquel GNU/Linux Toutatis
realease comes handy to solve possible issues coming with this update pack.
Correct me if I am wrong and / or Rubén is fully occupied. [In case you
Rubén read this, I want to express my gratitude for swapping Bazaar-based
developer's corner with one made possible by Git.] (=

No offense, but if posting such reply at 3 in the morning is what you call
reality.. well then there's bigger issue of yours than my ramble about
overall Steam experience.

My bits: F**k Steam service living in virtual reality pushed by fake
achievements screwing up with your brain's reward-circuit. This whole
gamification trend is sad from my point of view. Saying this I also have to
honestly admit that just thanks to gaming I learned English way easier than
what would be the result of sole school's class attendance. Half-Life was
amazing until I realized that shooting doing harm does not bring me ethical
joy. I've never regretted the day I close account with some 13+ legal (by
current society and business norm) launchers on it. Enjoy  FYI. (=

PS: And if anyone feels like he / she has to desperately shoot figures to get
relaxed, then I gladly recommend Xonotic community, they build on DarkPlaces
engine. =P

Hi alisee.,
all I was able to find within few mins are these two documents:
1.
http://www.ic.unicamp.br/~rdahab/cursos/mo826/2006/TCG_files/1027_1700_E1.pdf

2. http://support.amd.com/us/Processor_TechDocs/24593_APM_v2.pdf

The first one seems to be some sort of older roadmap on how they plan this
Trusted Computing method to put in works. The second is mostly related to KVM
and / or virtualization in general.

Good luck with finding more!
