ETS does too. The current ETS kernel is 4.4, and KPTI appeared in 4.4.110.

You have a Mac if I recall correctly, so you have an Intel chipset and are
affect by both Meltdown and Spectre. Meltdown has been patched in recent
versions of the Linux kern

Some of your hardware might have better support in a newer kernel. If this
one is working fine I wouldn't update it as it could only cause problems you
did not have before.
So when I install Trisquel with the generic (4.4.0-112-generic) kernel
everything is working dandy.
Could someone ELI5 the potentially advantages of updating the kernel?
