Thanks. I advocate Evolution anyway, although I'd prefer it be named
"Overview" to better suggest that it's an Outlook clone. Are there any
freedom issues with Evolution?
That is good news considering how long ago icedove has been behind the
times...
38.8 is extremely old.
Ah okay, I am not experienced though with gimp or anything alternate *cough
micro* cough* crap* cough* paint *cough
Sarcasm seemed warranted... :)
Actually icedove is actually pending the MR approval :)

"What I don't get is why programs, especially apps such as Icedove, that are
already known to be libre aren't automatically updated in the Trisquel
repositories. Why isn't that a "push" process?"
There is no Icedove package in Ubuntu to take and automatically update. Take
a look:
"Also though, the updates are much more infrequent, especially icedove. which
last I checked is still at 38.8 on trisquel 7."
This is what I don't get. I get that processing Ubuntu to flush out unfree
software is labor intensive. I get that the transition from GNOME Fallback
to MATE is
>But how did you add the shotgun to it?
No, but that's also very easy to do. GIMP is 100% libre and 190% fun. Tinker
and profit.
>why the stallman with a shotgun picture
It's the best way to fight (proprietary power)
I find it funny.
>How did you make such an avatar anyways...
It's just very basic GIMP work. Took a picture, pasted and resized RMS's
face, rotated a bit, cleaned the borders and finally resized the
But how did you add the shotgun to it?
That was my major point... ;)
Heh, don't sweat it, I may have came across as, arrogant.
;/
ps, why the stallman with a shotgun picture? xD
How did you make such an avatar anyways...
just to say the -1 comes not from me. In fact I will give you a +1 right away
in order to balance it out.
heh, sorry I wasn't trying to sound condescending.
You already know why, ;) hint* sys* *hint tem* *hint D* hint*
Also though, the updates are much more infrequent, especially icedove. which
last I checked is still at 38.8 on trisquel 7.
And yes, this post was irrelevant.
sorry about that.
If you are willing to spend time with testing the USB bug, you can maybe
contact quidam by IRC. If I remember right, yesterday he was looking for people
with that problem to provide him with more feedback.

Thanks for letting us know. This is information of greatest value..

Really? And what would that be exactly?

It is good that is he close to releasing trisquel 8. I most likely will still
not be using it as my main os. But I am glad you guys will soon have trisquel
8 as I am sure it will help software freedom advance.
Trisquel 8 has some things I may not like, but meh...
But for the free software
Thanks for the exciting news!
Will any more testing ISOs be uploaded leading up to the release? I've run into
the USB boot/install issue with every ISO starting with the one from 12/23.
I'll be happy to keep testing new ISOs and reporting if anything changes.

Great, thanks a lot!
quidam dropped the idea of releasing Trisquel 8 during LibrePlanet's
hackathon session because of being tired (14 hour day) and concerns over
making mistakes due to that.
The only blocking bug that affects the release, that quidam knows of, is the
reported issues booting from USB. He has a
Can someone please post what were the keypoints of today's meeting? Freedom
