what a dictatorial thing. When you don't have a counter to a question, you
just have to click on the minus sign! I think you know what I mean!
Funny. GNULINUX is just now beginning to catch up to what Sun was doing 15
years ago with jails and other Solaris specific features. The whole idea of
GNULINUX is to be a knockoff of UNIX. And it is a fragmented, broken, and
poorly executed one at that.
The Sun license, based on self
Sun chose a terrible license for ZFS and as a result it is legally
incompatible with any GNU/Linux distro. A more appropriate choice would be
Btrfs, I suppose.
Are they any plans for Trisquel to support Zetabyte File Systems and/or full
disk encryption?
Thanks, moxalt.
I will include this into my daily ritual.
Still reading about the command line.
You're correct in that no interface is specified, but if he were to set up his
script as a startup script, he would have no way of authorising it through the
CLI because no virtual terminals would be running (unless he specified 'run in
terminal' in the options). It would run as one of the startup
"he suggested running as a startup script, to launch upon login" ... That's
not specifyin any kind of interface. We were talking of CLI n he didn't
mention to do it on the GUI. So, if I didn't understand is because I
UNDERSTAND what he wrote and you understood what he tried to mean.
apt-get update needs root privileges
Never say the other way. I'm telling u that there's no need of gksudo for an
script if it does not run a GUI application that needs privilegies. Wait, I
am writing the very same thing over and over? Yes LOL You reread my post as
it is the same. So to add something to this: apt-get is not a
You don't get it - he suggested running as a startup script, to launch upon
login. Hence there will be no terminal emulator running, so sudo would be
useless (where as gksudo would present a nice visible dialog)
the one thing that i do is apt get and run all the updates and double check

welcome to my world greenman :)
gksudo is for GUI programs running on gnome. There's no need of gksudo for an
script except if it runs GUI programs that need privilegies.
Also, u can use |y
why not just make it into a script replacing sudo with gksudo
and making it run on start up?
I just made it a habit to always update everything manually from the terminal
after logging in.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo apt-get clean
is my daily ritual.
Is Trisquel supposed to update automatically (update manager automatically
popping up)?
I was curious since I haven't seen this come up so I updated with the command
line and there was quite a lot to be updated.
Any advice?
You could check how often your computer checks for updates. Open up System
Settings, then Software & Updates. Go to the Updates tab and see what
"Automatically check for updates:" is set to.
I use GeForce 9200M GS with the nouveau drivers, perhaps I should try it again
following your advise.
Thank you

You are awesome, honestly. I wish I could test it; unfortunately, my old
little laptop can't handle it.
Including good and well known developing tools is a smart move. Perhaps this
question is stupi but, are the editors free as in freedom software?
Thank you.
Yes, The editors are free (GPL licensed).
The game might run if you have 4GB of ram. The settings can be turned down.
Clicking on the Low button in the video settings area might work.
