Use jxself's linux-libre-lts package. And you can have another way to boot
the system if need be. Just a thought.
Yes, this!
"if you need more up to date software libraries and packages in the meantime
you can try the stable Hyperbola distribution (based on Arch with Debian
patches but not a rolling release)"
t3g should try this idea.
Although, encryption is a little trickier, but meh, better than
Yes Jxself, I bet he couldn't fork Trisquel anymore than I could.
That's kind of what the first post I made was trying to say, albeit very
sarcasticly.
I usually don't see you get this steamed ever... He must have really crossed
the line huh...
Welp, somehow I am not surprised that t3g
Magicbanana, sorry, but I hate to say, I find this entertaining... although
utterly stupid and pointless.
And yes, unproductive in many different ways.
What exactly are you agreeing on? Everybody with half a brain "agrees" that
T8 is late. That goes without saying.
It doesn't follow that the OP is right about much anything. He's been
complaining about it, we know about it and there's nothing more to do about
it.
I use T8 on my HP
loldier, I agree with t3g that it might be better to prioritize the release
of Trisquel 9 over releasing both Trisquel 8 and Trisquel 9, since Trisquel 8
is based on an almost 2 year old system. Since Ubuntu LTS releases are
supported for 5 years, Trisquel does not need to offer all the
I'm hijacking this comment to ask you a Question CalmStorm.
May I ask you why you recommend Hyperbola? :) Especially why you recommend it
over Parabola? :)
I think I'm going to try a more simplistic GNU OS now, and you have been
talking so warmly about this OS. But why not Parabola? It is
The first comment that was made to you is accurate, but I will add also,
IF you desire encryption in hyperbola, it will be a bit harder. Unless your
doing FDE!
in which case, following the instructions is easy enough.
My reasons for Hyperbola and not Parabola aren't just systemd though,
inb4 this becomes another systemd thread.

Calmstorm prefers a distro without systemd. If you would like to know why
search the forum, as this issue has been discussed plenty.
Parabola offers
I agree with t3g that Trisquel should be based on an up to date version of
Ubuntu, so that it will be compatible with new software and libraries
(without requiring messing around with unofficial repositories). t3g, if you
need more up to date software libraries and packages in the meantime
How ironic! The five threads you created to complain that quidam is not
working fast enough certainly helped a lot to "get a free software OS out the
door".
"WebKit has security problems"
Have those problems been fixed in the Blink engine that was forked from parts
of WebKit, and is now used by Chromium and its derivatives (Chrome and I
presume Iridium)? Otherwise it might be better to stick with a Firefox-based
browser, or another free code
The problem is only with the way WebKit is distributed, so Blink doesn't have
the same problem. That's one major reason why there has been a push to switch
to it for Qt, the way I understand it.
well done :)
A GNOME dev says WebKit does NOT have security problems, IF you use
the GTK libraries for it, and IF you actually get updates for it.
