Sorry to throw the candidate into this, but I think key man trumps
non-compete. We'll know soon, when puzzled fans write to their favorite
crix wondering where the departed Fox-ers are.

Still, the NY Times

(link) a couple months ago noted how states are starting to step in to
outlaw non-competes... Calif. squashed 'em quite a while ago, but the piece
had no clues from its home state...

Non-competes are typically for six months or a year. What's-his-face
had two years. Someone can be locked into a contract for three to five
years if there is no key man clause.

Re: [TV orNotTV] To our NY-metro readers...

2016-09-18 Thread PGage
I also hope all are well. From my perch in Northern California I was up
till the wee hours monitoring the situation, semi-freaked out and
unnecessarily overreacting about my two young adult daughters who both live
in NYC. At the time of the explosion both of them were out and about in the
general lower Manhattan area - one on the East side, the other less than 5
blocks from the explosion site (and only a couple of blocks from where the
second suspicious device was found). Though they were raised in a small
rural town by worry-wort parents, they are by now both New Yorkers, of the
kind their Mayor and Governor bragged about, and never even considered
changing their evening because of the event (though when the one who was
close to the event got home and watched it on TV she did admit that she may
not have had a full understanding of what had been happening). I found out
about the incident about 45 minutes after it happened, and immediately
called both girls, who both answered the phone the same way: "I'm fine
Daddy" (thank God for cell phones - how did we live with out them in the
before times?). After my attempts to get them to immediately get on a plane
and fly back to California, or at least to go straight home to their
apartments, were gently but firmly rebuffed, I did get a promise from both
to call me when they got home, and then settled in for a long night of
watching the news. By midnight my time both girls were home safely, but I
stayed up till after 2:00 to keep an eye on developments.

Reports this morning are that all 29 (I believe) people reported injured
last night have been treated for mild (and in one case, somewhat more
severe) injuries, and released from area hospitals. Thankfully (Cuomo just
said miraculously) nobody was killed or seriously hurt.

"Let's be careful out there..."

[TV orNotTV] To our NY-metro readers...

2016-09-18 Thread Bob Jersey

Hope everyone is OK after a frightening explosion

outside a building in the Chelsea neighbourhood in Manhattan (WPIX link)

Surrounding areas are closed to traffic

(CBS NY link), and nearby subway stops shut as well.

My FB contact notes a safety-check area extends at least 5 miles out from
Central Park.
