[TV orNotTV] CNN - Bash/King

I'm unsure how I clicked on this but I've been watching CNN way too
often during the election.  The names Dana Bash and John King are very
familiar.  I can even hear Wolf/Anderson say their names.

It turns out that Bash/King were married, had a kid, and got divorced in
2012(?). I guess that explains why he was sequestered at the
touch-screen rather than the desk :).

(honest.  A few days after the election I decided to go cold-turkey and
stop reading Presidential stuff.  But it kicked back in today after the

It warms my heart that Capital Broadcasting was bullied into selling its 
Charlotte stations by Fox a few years ago. Their stations became the first O 
stations in Charlotte when they became Fox and MyNetwork stations in 2013.

I was wondering how this would play out. Yesterday was an unusually good
day for the NFL. As the article notes. They had two great games during the
day, and the prime time game was just as good if not better. Plus the
prime-time game and the Cowboy-Steeler game were high profile and heavily
hyped all week. So they had great match-ups that actually lived up to the
billing.

This can only be good news for them, plus the distractions of the fall
behind them - but I think we will need to see a few more weeks of overall
ratings recovery before we pronounce the patient well.

this is very sad for several reasons. We already have too few actual
journalists working in television, and now there is one less.

It is their station and they can do what they want. If they don't want to
broadcast bad words or "edgy" material, then they should just not carry
SNL. What I strongly criticize them for is running the show, and then
censoring it. I am somewhat less critical if Lorne, or even NBC, decide to
bleep something on the show - they are the one's ultimately deciding on
what kind of show they want to send out. But I think it is very bad form
for third parties to censor the material. It is no different to me than if
Wall Mart pulled out a few objectionable pages from a Dave Chappelle book.
If selling (and making a profit) off of Chappelle is offensive to your

I can't say whether or not WRAL did the right thing. All I can say is, given 
the long and storied history of Capitol Broadcasting censoring and/or outright 
blocking programming deemed objectionable (except, of course, in the case where 
said programming turned a profit in due course), that to say that WRAL is 
stodgy is an insult to the concept of stodginess. After all, this is a 
60-year-old still locally owned-and-operated Southern television station that 
used to run editorials by Jesse Helms, now located square in the crossroads of

not related to TV... but the name Jesse Helms triggered a memory.

Back in late 80's or early 90's I was involved in USENET text discussions.
One extremely popular newsgroup was alt.sex. Someone created a
literature contest called the Jesse Helms Erotic Literature Contest where
the content of the stories could only be things that Mr. Helms would
approve of.  I thought the idea was hilarious.

This struck me "funny." My TV provider, Bell, offers a "channel" called 
Netflix which is pretty much what you described. Bell sells their own 
on-demand service, CraveTV, on their system too (natch).
