Re: [TV orNotTV] Re: OT: not impressed
I'm watching "CBC News Network" which is the cable news network. They did say "we are going to give an update now to the main network during an intermission of the hockey game". So the hosts spoke for 5 minutes to hockey fans. Since hockey is national broadcast, the provincial stuff is usually carried on the cable news net. [TV orNotTV] OT: not impressed
Today, Ontario has elected Doug Ford as Premier of the province. That's Rob Ford's brother. Doug's campaign topics were in a similar vain as Trump-ish. Doug is a Progressive Conservative party lead. wondering how long it will take for the scandals to start. Interesting comment from a CBC commentator: "His cabinet will not be too diverse, as they are mostly white males". -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TVorNotTV" group. This is not the device for me. My neighbors would get tired of me constantly shouting “porn!!!” at the top of my lungs. [TV orNotTV] Amazon unveils nearly hands-free streaming TV device
By JOSEPH PISANI AP Retail Writer NEW YORK (AP) - Alexa for couch potatoes is coming: Amazon's new Fire TV streaming device will let users shout out when they want to turn on the TV, flip channels or search for sitcoms -- all without pushing any buttons. The Fire TV Cube is not entirely hands-free yet, however. Some apps or streaming services may require viewers to pick up the included remote to rewind or stop a show. Amazon already sells other voice-controlled Fire TV devices, but those require a push of the remote's mic button or a separate Echo device with Amazon's Alexa voice assistant. The Cube will be available later this month for $120. Nvidia's Shield also offers hands-free streaming using Google's digital assistant. Other devices, including Apple TV, require activation with the remote's mic. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TVorNotTV" group. Re: [TV orNotTV] Fox Sports lineup calling the World Cup
Probably because it would mean hearing things like "Coming up next is the News at Ten..." or "Stay tuned for a late night Good Morning Britain..." which doesn't make sense, but that's what ITV is apparently doing. As with most global sports there will be an English language 'World Feed.' Sky's Martin Tyler usually does games on that, and he's one of the very best. Similarly, John Roder is another freelance commentator who works on the World Feed and is a safe pair of hands. Fox could easily take these feeds as part of their rights deal, but obviously the commentary wouldn't be tailored to US audiences e.g. highlighting players with MLS connections.
