One thing that put me off the Galactica reboot was that I appreciated how
many African Americans were featured in the original cast, and in the
reboot they all but vanished. Carter took what should’ve been a minor role
and made it prominent through shear force of acting talent. He took words
that weren’t important (and in many cases not well written) and made them
important. That’s a skill.

Played Doug Williams, aka Hope’s dad, for over 50 years on Days of Our 
Lives. He and his wife Susan were as delightful off screen as they were on 
screen. When I was an NBC page, he and a few others set the tone of 
professionalism to be followed by the rest of the (younger) cast: keep it 
light, but do it right. He was 98.

Meg Bennett got her first television appearance by lying that she wasn't an 
actress to be a contestant on the Bill Cullen game show "Three on a Match" 
(this was when AFTRA was saying that game show producers had to pay losing 
union members scale instead of giving them American Tourister luggage and 
Rice-a-Roni)--afterwards, she was in the original Broadway cast of "Grease" 
before a stint on "Search for Tomorrow" and six years as Julia on "The 
Young and the Restless"--co-creator Bill Bell knew that she would rewrite 
her lines and asked her to become a writer on the show--she later won an 
Emmy in 1995 as a writer on "General Hospital":
