Well, I guess I am into jokes about those kinds of people. I am also into
jokes about dictators who order the executions of journalists who defy them
and insurance companies who profit off the terminal illnesses of children
without paying for needed medical care. I don't think Jones somehow buys
immunity from ridicule because he is a horrible excuse for a human being.

Satire and ridicule from John Oliver is not going to end Putin or cancel
Jones - nor should it. That would be too much power to give a skinny guy
with a little cable comedy show. Their true believers will continue to be
true. It does contribute though to a better and broader understanding not
just of why these people are horrible, but of the kinds of people who are
enabling them.

Well, I watched Oliver's segment. I guess if you're into joking about
people who accuse the parents of murdered children of being actors, then --
sure -- this is a hoot. I am glad Oliver didn't interview Jones, but Jones
is the sort of narcissist who gets off on any mention of himself, and
Oliver bought products off the lunatic's website, so I think Jones won this
round.

I was gonna say I wish Oliver was still on The Bugle, but then I never
would've discovered Nish Kumar, so never mind.

Steve I think you have missed the point that was being made in criticizing
Kelly. It was often said that if she wanted to expose him as a fraud that
might be worthwhile journalism, but giving him a platform on which to
normalize himself as simply one voice among a continuum of perspectives was
irresponsible. If Megyn Kelly had done a straight news version of what
Oliver did last night I don't think yo would have heard much criticism of
her.

I thought Oliver was fanatastic last night BTW, Only exception - I don't
agree with his making fun of the CNN annotated video of the McCain vote
against "Skinny Repeal" of ACA. I liked that video (and the several still

Kelly continues to drop in the ratings. I still think NBC doesn't care and
the whole show is to build her name for The Today Show in the fall. I was
going to watch last night because she seemed to have non-political stories,
but it turned out Jake Johannsen was at the local Improv, so I went there.
Maybe next Sunday.
