Use the PPPOE conf to configure your BSNL.
- $sudo pppoeconf
- Follow the instructions.
- Input your username and password
- After the configuration you can use 'pon dsl-provider' to switch on and
'poff' to switch off the connection.

You can also try a HIDS (Host-based IDS) like Ossec. It differs from Snort
