Re: [twsocket] ICS V5 and V6 installed at the same time ?
Hi, Instead of running Delphi on vitualized machine you can also start it from a Virtualized version you create with ThinApp (from VMWare) that is different from full machine virtualization as it will only virtualize a specific application instaed of full machine into a stand-alone big single EXE file you can start instantly on any machine without installation, only copy/run EXE file ! So you could create different virtualized Delphi environment. You could also virtualize your own delphi app so no need to make installers. regards. -- To unsubscribe or change your settings for TWSocket mailing list please goto http://lists.elists.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/twsocket Visit our website at http://www.overbyte.be
Re: [twsocket] ICS V5 and V6 installed at the same time ?
You can use isolated Delphi "profile" for each project. You can specify the root registry key to use when loading the IDE. Just specify switch -r in the IDE command line like this: delphi32.exe -rNewRoot Default, all IDE-settings loaded from registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Borland\Delphi -Original Message- From: twsocket-boun...@elists.org [mailto:twsocket-boun...@elists.org] On Behalf Of scconsulting Sent: Wednesday, September 23, 2009 2:58 PM To: ICS support mailing Subject: Re: [twsocket] ICS V5 and V6 installed at the same time ? Ok thanks everyone for your answers. I will use some virtual pc to solve the problem since I use only Delphi7 for the 2 projects and I do not plan to migrate to V7 for the moment. As Arno said, it is quite easy to switch from one ICS version to another. I do it very frequently. Just a matter or deleting one package, changing the path to vc32 folder and installing the other package. It take less than one minute to do it. -- francois.pie...@overbyte.be The author of the freeware multi-tier middleware MidWare The author of the freeware Internet Component Suite (ICS) http://www.overbyte.be -- To unsubscribe or change your settings for TWSocket mailing list please goto http://lists.elists.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/twsocket Visit our website at http://www.overbyte.be

Hello, No, it is not possible to install multiple versions in the IDE at the same time. You should explicitly deinstall first under Components/Install Packages and the install the other version. Also it is very important to adjust any library paths (if any) pointing to previous vc32 folder to current vc32 directory. Sounds more complicated than it actually is. Also consider to use V7 instead of V6, it's pretty stable. -- Arno Garrels scconsulting wrote: > Hello Everyone ! > > Is there any problem if I install ICS V5 AND V6 on the same computer > (and the same Delphi of course). No, you can only install a single version of ICS in a single version of Delphi, since the component names are the same in all ICS versions. But you can install different versions of ICS in different versions of Delphi, I have v6 in Delphi 7 and v7 in Delphi 2007. v5 is only of minor historic interest and is no longer regularly updated.
