Thanks Christian, this was exactly what I needed..I managed to enable the
install tool and after to create an admin account for the backend.
From that point i solved my problem with some researchs in this way (maybe the
solution can be useful to others):
- I found that i had to put "config.ab

Hi Christian Platt, actually my problem is that I already have a Mysql
installed on this Windows machine, but I can't create my own database since
they gave me the script to import it. Plus, as I said I can't run the first
install because they already gave me the files from their typo3 installa

all the links not working and some content is not visible (so basically the
site is not working, it seems just a static home page).
Regarding the backend, at localhost/mysite/typo3 I can reach the typo3 login

The steps you described are the ones that I followed, in particular now I have
this situation:
- I have the htdocs folder with inside the folders typo3 (just extracted and
not installed) and mysite (see htdocs.png) that is the structure you suggested
I dont know the code TypoScript, but you can search for baseURL and than set it
to your needs.
