Just a thought. Has the port the rpc daemon runs on changed? Thanks, Nick Cipollina -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of George Smith Sent: Friday, November 04, 2005 9:30 AM To: u2-users@listserver.u2ug.org Subject: [U2] UODOTNET

Mark and Nick, Thanks for your suggestions below. This is a home development system, if the rpc daemon has changed I do not know how. However, I will check both of your suggestions when I get home. Same for the Demo account - I have not touched it and can access it from telnet and the UniAdmin.

Check the UV.ACCOUNT file and verify that your account still exists. You can also use the full path to the account instead of the account name. I usually put the full path in for the account name. --- u2-users mailing list u2-users@listserver.u2ug.org To unsubscribe please visit

The class you want from IBM is UV905. It teaches how to deal with BLINK errors, the likely causes thereof, and the fact that not all BLINK errors are repairable - for example where the operating system disk utilities truncate your physical file. --- u2-users mailing list

So if you defragment a disk, and read a record from two different files, you could force head motion. If many files grow the disk blocks can be allocated from the free areas, which might actually localize time dependent or associated data near each other on the disk. Except when I am all by my

But many of the parameters depend upon user count, and more specifically application activity. I do not think an install script could be that intelligent. I don't know why IBM doesn't just make them the default. Or better still, make the installer a little more intelligent (less stupid?) so
