Thanks David, Unfortunately we are not even looking to be as forward thinking as a web service here - just a plain old Windows Service - to run in the background. The most annoying thing is that we have something similar running as a web service and it actually works OK. Nevertheless, thanks

[U2] Unusual problem w/Dynamic Connect 'speed'

2005-09-07 Thread Joe Walter
I'm having a most unusual (to me) problem with the screen painting 'speed' of Dymanic Connect at one site. Small installation. The 'server' is actually a high end machine running nothing more than Win2K Pro. Clients (workstations) are also running Win2k Pro. Anyway, it's absolutely unbearable

Have you tested whether a plain MS Telnet connection also suffers from the same speed issues? Also which DB are you connecting to? I have seen UniData act this way when moving between fields because a TCL TIMEOUT had been set... (Admittedly that was GUI SB+ - but hey - any port in a storm!)

[U2] [UDT] No more entries in MI table in LCT-55

2005-09-07 Thread Raymond DeGennaro II
We're using some vendor supplied tool for packaging-up records and files into one DIR-type (UniData) file and it's returning the error: No more entries in MI table in LCT-55. This is their first UniData port of their product and have no idea what this error means. I've never seen it either.

This means some UniData configuration is needed. Assuming this is a fairly recent version of UniData, there will have been an 'ipclog' file generated due to this error. The specific ipclog name and location is recorded in $UDTBIN/udt.errlog Collect this ipclog and provide it along with your

One of the things to watch for is indexes, especially if you are converting a distributed file with a number of part files into a single 64 bit file. If, for example, you have a DF with 10 parts and one index, you have ten index files--one per part file. Combining the data into one 64 bit
