So what's the number one reason for switching from D3 to U2?

Not to create an onslaught of replies, but I've worked on many MV platforms
and have my opinions on each.

RE: [U2] Does UniVerse work with clusters of Unix machines?

2008-02-01 Thread Dan Fitzgerald
Short answer: yes. Look into uv/net. You can also define remote pointers in
your voc, but then you won't be locking on the remote box. Last time I
checked, you could not use uv/net between two boxes with the same license
number, in those very rare instances where someone has a site license.

Does UniVerse work with clusters of Unix machines? Such as two or three IBM
P650's (System Model: IBM,7038-6M2)?

And/or a mixture of operating systems, like Unix on one box and Linux on
another (PC)?

I have had a number of responses directly as well as to the group, I'll be
putting together a document on it and will look at publishing it. But if
anyone specifically wants a copy please let me know and I'll email it when I

I recall from the University sessions last year that changing the UVSYNC

Has anyone any experience with this?

I'd look at the &PH& directory, if it's loaded, it'll take unix and
universe a bit of time to work through it. And if your system is like
many I've seen, both the &PH& and the &SAVEDLISTS& directories are often
not maintained. On the same note, uvtemp is often cluttered with the
temp files from selects, captures and executes...

[U2] UV ODBC Oddity

2008-02-01 Thread Sunny Matharoo
Hi

We was wondering if anyone could help, we have users that have old
queries that they have run in MS Query before with no problem using IBM
ODBC query drivers.

What we are having now is when they open a query it reports an error
around "TS" and when you look at the sql statement, rather than passing
a date it is now passing a date and time, now obviously UV does not seem
to be able to handle this.

Any ideas would be great

We have UV 10.2.4 on AIX 5.2

Thanks

[U2] U2UG Elections...

2008-02-01 Thread Brian Leach
Calling all U2UG Members on this list...

You should have received today an email with voting instructions to elect
the new U2UG Board members for 2008.

If not, and you're one of the 400 mail delivery failures cluttering my
Inbox, you are still eligible to vote!

Just find a few minutes over the next week to sign into www.u2ug.org and hit
the Elections link.
You'll find candidate biographies and voting form waiting. You can change
your mind, too, right up to the end of the ballot on 10th February.

We have a strong slate of candidates willing to represent you and to carry
on the exciting work of the U2UG, so make your vote count.
After all, it's probably the only really important election this year and
unlike most others, it shouldn't cost you a penny!

(and please check the email address on your user profile..)
