Has anyone had a problem installing the new IBM.Net Data provider Ver 9.5
service pack onto Vista.
When you double click on the setup.exe and click the Vista allow access, it
comes back the program has stopped working.
The Ver9.5 installed OK on Vista (it just does not connect to U2 databases),
Hello,
My 2 pences.
We use SQL dbms as datawarehouse repository where we put all our U2 datas
(Uv,Ud) but also XLS sheet, MDB files, other sql db, ... We use standard client
tool like BusinessObject, Cognos, HummingbirdBI to request datawarehouse.
To prepare U2 datas, we have a in-house tool
Well, this all contradicts what I've been told by our software vendor.
Triggers just like ODBC supposedly totally kill the performance of UD
(we are still on 5.2).
I was advised to stay away from them or use them sparingly, if think I
really have to.
I was also told not to use VSG, and that, I

Clif,
For me it starts with clean dictionaries. The transformations in the
DICT are wildly useful in recasting the data. 'D'ate, 'MT'ime,
'MD'ecimal - they identify a lot of the data in a way that is quick and
automation-friendly.

Well, MITS does a SELECT against their copy, then against the source
copy and then merge the list. So - the larger it gets - well (Not
to mention I think MITS is a hunk of glorified crap)
I've had no issues using triggers. (My box is huge thou)
Agreed: VSG sucks.
Epicor ETL's CDC is
:-)
We wrote our engine to quarantine records that error out - which dirty
SQL data would cause.
What you do with the quarantined records is up to you. LOL

I'm considering a change from VSI-FAX to Hylafax. Any experiences are
welcome either with the migration, and with just using Hylafax without
prior VSI-FAX use.
TIA,

Has anyone had success in setting up a ODBC
I would try re-writing the A type as a D...I'm not sure I-types
always play well with A/S types.

There is also Easysoft which seems to be a good one. I've tested it but have
not put it into production yet.
There seems to be more action being done at getting things from the U2
environment then the other way around. What we are doing here is the other
way around, trying to get data from SQL
I believe that I have seen a closely-related problem. A talented programmer
on this list suggested keeping the
dictionary entries 1 through 6 and delteting 7 and above. I sort-of recall
that 7 and above may be used to relate
U2 to SQL. If there is no SQL linkage, consider making a backup copy,
