[U2] .Net Data Provider
Anyone have any idea what happens to the .Net Data Provider for U2 in the Rocket Universe? The product was labeled as a DB2 data provider on the IBM site with U2 being part of the functionality. [U2] Unidata 6.1.15/AIX/SB+ 5.3: Pegging a CPU
I have a customer using my Download Definition tool for SB+ who is reporting a strange thing (at least to me). When he kicks off a download (which is effectively a tight optimized READNEXT loop extracting data, formatting it, and writing it via WRITESEQ) it pegs a CPU - full on 100%. Maybe I spend too much time under a rock, but I have never seen a single Unidata session peg a CPU on AIX - until now. We've run Unidata profiling to try to get a handle on the issue and nearly 70% of the time (from the profile.elapse) is being invested in the SB.EVAL.EXP subroutine being called from the tool. Of course, I have no access to the source code for SB.EVAL.EXP but I have seen where complex SB+ stacks can definitely impact the performance of the tool. Yet, in looking at the stacks that are being used, all of them in the test case are simple record extractions (i.e. R5 or R18,-1). @RECORD is loaded before the stacks are evaluated so there should be zero I/O being done in SB.EVAL.EXP and even if there was I/O, how could this one subroutine peg a CPU? -Kevin http://www.PrecisOnline.com ___ U2-Users mailing list U2-Users@listserver.u2ug.org http://listserver.u2ug.org/mailman/listinfo/u2-users

[U2] pooled and nonpooled connections
Has anyone managed to use both pooled and nonpooled connections in a single asp.net process using uniobjects.net. ? I have tried and failed - basically i want the app to use pooled connections, but sometimes to use non pooled for certain customer accounts, these just hit the server occasionally but can take a few seconds to complete so i don't want to block out a pool for that time, the problem i am getting is that as soon as the non pooled connection happens the current pools all crash out - kind of like the UniObjects.UOPooling is a global setting for all current connections, I have the pooled and non pooled in separate classes, but the session is then used by the core app !? the only way i can thinkof doinf this is to have a separate web service for these accounts but i really want to avoid that as it will take ages to change a lot of front ends. I get the following error in the pooled connection as soon as the nonpooled session is opened. IBMU2.UODOTNET.UniSubroutineException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: A blocking operation was interrupted by a call to WSACancelBlockingCall.[IBM U2][UODOTNET - UNIRPC][ErrorCode=81009] The RPC failed at IBMU2.UODOTNET.UniSubroutine.Call() Rgds Symeon. ___ U2-Users mailing list U2-Users@listserver.u2ug.org http://listserver.u2ug.org/mailman/listinfo/u2-users
[U2] Unidata Indexing Problems
We have a customer firmly ensconced on Unidata 5.1 on HP-UX (i.e. upgrading is not an option at this time) who is experiencing a strange indexing issue. We created a regular Unidata index (CREATE.INDEX) on a normal data field (attribute 189), built the index, tested, all is well. Another process comes along later and dumps a bunch of information in the file but... the index is not updated! There are other indexes on that file that are being properly updated, but our new one is not. This is a dynamic file and permissions on all of the parts are appropriate, which isn't really applicable anyway knowing that other indexes are being properly updated. Any ideas of something I could look for? There are no errors being logged in Unidata's logs, btw. -Kevin http://www.PrecisOnline.com ___ U2-Users mailing list U2-Users@listserver.u2ug.org http://listserver.u2ug.org/mailman/listinfo/u2-users
[U2] How to extract data from such tables
Dear ALL We are working on UNIDATA version 6 and we need your guide line. One of the table is having many multivalve columns but by LISTDICT I can not see. These columns have data but vendor program is showing all columns data. As I do not know column name then let me know how to see the other columns? May I need to update dictionary to table to see column name or suggest any other ways By LISTDICT I can not see all column names. My questions are:- 1) How to check data dictionary? 2) How to select / extract data form this tables ( for all columns like oracle select * from )? 3) How to remove extra space from column ( like oracle Trim() ) Your suggestions are most well-come and waiting for your positive reply. Re: [U2] Unidata Indexing Problems
Check the release notes. I recall there being a problem with the sort.exe program on (I thought) a later version of UD 5 (5.2.4?) on windows. Same symptoms. Fix was to upgrade workaround was to grab the exe from a later version (6.0.12) and use it.
