Hi Marc The solution is quite simple:- The following example uses /u1/uv for the UniVerse home directory and vt100 as the terminal type. Substitute in the correct information for your system. cd /u1/uv/sample /u1/uv/bin/uvtidc vt100 myvt100 vi myvt100 within vi, search for the string ( /$5 ) and delete all ocurrances. /u1/uv/bin/uvtic -a myvt100 HTH Caminiti, Marc wrote: We currently run viewpoint emulation, but there have been some requests to be able to connect to our system via an iPad. We currently run viewpoint emulation, but there have been some requests to be able to connect to our system via an iPad. I see that there is an software package out there called iSSH that will allow the connection to our system, but it does not have the viewpoint emulation. If I connect to our system with a vt100 emulation, and issue a TERM vt100 from TCL, our menu options work fine, but it seems like any programs where we use the @(#,#) to position the cursor a $5 appears on the screen then the text. I would always try to use vt220 rather than vt100, also xterm works well with things like putty which is an ssh client. You need to edit and reload the tic source file for the vt100 (in AIX this is located in /usr/lib/terminfo, not sure where if different on Redhat). You probably do not have the source of the tic files on your system (binary for vt100 would be in the /usr/lib/terminfo/v directory). If you do, just edit (vi) the vt100 portion and remove all occurrence of $5 anywhere it appears. After you have done that, type tic vt100 and try it again. I use the SSH Term Pro app on my iPhone and the vt100 emulation works nicely with the Universe vt100 term type. I believe it is also available for the iPad.
