RE: [U2] UniDK
Last time I looked it was in the client software. Should be on your client disc or below is the link to the trial downloads. I don't think the client side trial is restricted or protected. http://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/download/search.jsp?go=y&rs=u2trial s 4. RE: [U2] UniDK
Gerry: Just in case, I believe I could only use 2196 for mv.NET. There is a more recent version in my latest SDK of 7211. Hope this helps. I wholeheartedly support the previous two posters' comments. Best is to have your new person use PE on a machine not connected to the network, the only totally safe strategy. --- u2-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/
RE: [U2] UniDK
Don't let him/her near a live production environment. One small slip of the "knife" and you could be in big trouble. Beginners sometimes have a hard time getting their minds around multivalue fields. Could be an even bigger problem if they are using the java libraries and they forget to add the second or third variable to a field write. The write will succeed, but you'll have a data file that is way out of wack. If they want to learn that's good. Have them download and install the PE version of the product. Let them run their experiments on copies of the data and not the real thing. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bill Pizer Sent: Friday, July 16, 2004 6:31 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [U2] UniDK I have a user who wants access to UniDK. We use a single user ID for all of our web applications, so I'm not sure how the security comes into play. I would hope that if verbs are restricted for him at the colon prompt, that also works when he connects with UniObjects for Java or InterCall. One option is to have him install the Personal Edition locally and play with that at first. It comes with the same 'demo' account that the production version has. You could even give him the dictionaries and sample data from your real system. But keep in mind that once he figures out the client side, unless you turn off the UniRPC daemon or have the port firewalled, he'll be able to get in with a valid user ID and password. Have him join this list and we'll keep an eye on him. ;) -- Wendy Smoak Application Systems Analyst, Sr. ASU IA Information Resources Management --- u2-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/
