What I'm wondering is; what can I put into the 'Xxx what to do if locked'
section whereby it waits until the record lock clears, once it clears, set my
own lock, read the record, alter the record, and then write the record (which
would release my lock)?

o this is no longer a big issue
for me. If I had created the program using our vendor's tool kit, the
generated code would have added all the appropriate gunk the system uses for
record locks. The responses have been interesting as I've been looking for a
chance to better unders
I do remember it being a pain in the neck. I believe Datatel
had an AnswerNet Doc on the subject.

While at Beloit I had a problem with @LOGNAME. It only showed up when a
Datatel program was calling another Datatel program (or something like that).
I know it had something to do with a problem with Uniobjects and PAM
authentication. The work-around was to add the DMI username and
trate sending a file to the user's PC
for a Word merge.

We were able to perform a "umount /test", change permissions, and
"mount /test". It is now working :-)

You guys were on the right track. My Sys. Admin. traced her
connection to the network and found she was on the wrong kind of
port. After switching that around, "scp" works much much
faster. Now I'm going to look into this rsync folks have been talking about.
