2pc (two phase commit) requires a DBMS with functionality to support both phases, the voting (preparation) phase and the decision phase. 2pc also requires a TPM (a Transaction Processing Monitor) such as MS-DTC or CICS or WebSphere/MQ. As far as I know, the u2 databases and some other Pick-like
