scenario, it might make sense to start looking at other replacement

Okay, another thing to try. When you get into the list box, hit down
arrow three times; then hit spacebar once then hit tab once then hit
enter. If that doesn't work, instead of typing orca, type orca -t enter
and see if orca starts talking.

An alternative to try. The list box launches and you're placed at the top
not on a numbered selection. So try hitting downarrow three times then
hit enter and see if orca comes up. They really need to put another
selection in that list box too for those that can't use a mouse and need

The kernel that was causing problems for speakup was itself later found
defective and withdrawn. That if memory serves was 2.6.22 and that was
replaced with 2.6.23 which can handle a speakup install.

Has anyone ever used the dell support web page and not gone around in a

orca doesn't come up talking when a reboot happens; there's that login
prompt to handle first. One thing I can tell you is about the control-u
key combination. It wipes out everything typed on a line before you hit
it so can clear out bad login and password information for you.

I can tell you exactly how well orca will work in a thin client
environment and I can explain why. Orca requires a thick client to work
at all, and it requires broad band access. Without those two components
in place it will not work at all. This is why. The other name for thin

The accessibility select control needs to be changed from a single select
radiobutton to a multiselect radiobutton to accommodate installers who use
speech and cannot use the mouse. As of now, it's an either/or and it
needs to get to an and situation when necessary.

The first time I ever heard that happen was after nvda was installed on a
windows disk I use in a faster computer. That's a very good feature
though nvda doesn't yet talk very well with opnoffice yet. Fortunately
nvda is open source and written in python.
