I can see that this has already been reported a few times already. From
the report in bug #62939. They suggest it might have crashed due to the
wireless connection. I don't use a wireless card but looking at their

No freeze with Kubuntu 6.06.
I have Comnaq Evo160 laptop, ATI Radeon Mobility card.
It was rock solid with Ubuntu 5.10, but freezes randomly with U6.06. I tried
everything, but no result.

there is no need to be worried, we still have several weeks to fix bugs and
regression like that crasher are usually fixed quickly. Your bug is not really
optimal for several reason:
- the subject doesn't describe the bug clearly
- the description mentions there is a bug without any clear
well, after removing package powernowd, it seems that the LID state is
blocked on closed now. I'll continue trying to figure out what makes
that damn state not ok (it works great under MS Windows, so it is

I created a new port from the Clearlooks engine using the original
LegacyHuman colors where possible. Below is a screenshot of the new
look and the modified gtkrc is attached. I haven't tested it thoroughly
but it seems to be working fine so far.

I have solved the problem for me: I upgraded to edgy without upgrading to

I have found the root of the problem: Grub sees the boot drive as hd(0)
but the installer has told it to look at hd(4). Manually configuring
Grub to look at hd(0) results in a bootable system.

When partitioning a new system the same problem was experienced.
Recreating this is relatively simple, although I am unsure of the exact
prompts received so the following contains substantial paraphrasing: -
1. Boot using LiveCD and when prompted choose the manual partitioner.
2. Delete all
