I found that running oowriter with kdesu (kdesu oowriter) didn't crash
the applications so i was using it as a workaround.

My son and I recently installed Edgy.
We've tried to get mplayer working as it did in Dapper. Good app,
played just about everything in Dapper. We were also using an earlier
version of Firefox (1.5X?).
As best as I can recall, I was trying to load a video off CNN.com and
mplayer started to load

The whole system is sluggish to the point the touchpad and keyboard are
almost non functioning. When booting into KDE it loads up to the point
of getting the background and taskbar then takes approx. 20mins to bring

Apologies, the first crash stands but the keyboard/mouse and general
sluggishness is a totally broken ACPI problem fixed with acpi=off
The first one may have been a once off so this could be closed.

Think I fixed it... had to do with the dbus... some how it got unchecked
and gnome and other what nots in ubuntu couldn't handle the situation
without paniking. (I guess I would freak too if I lost one of my
vitals, like an arm or leg :P ) Anyway, started up the service
manually... you know /etc/i
