I too believe smbfs should be installed by default.
It allows us to mount a Windows share into the filesystem which makes it
usefull for Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu and for command line usage.
As it offers us better compatibility with Windows and it is pretty small I see
no reasons why not to to

First i was a bit annoyed that it did not work out of the box, cos i
already had the same problem with Dapper. However changing the driver
from ati to radeon made it work (even DRI did work) So I finally ask

Well, ALSA (linux-source-2.6.19/alsa-driver) is partly to blame due to
the mixer controls' enumeration, but that's not a problem easily
resolved without touching -all- drivers.

I'm sorry, I have formatted and reinstalled since I filed that bug
report. That is the only FireFox crash I have EVER had but if, in the
future, I experience any other problems I will be sure to include all
the necessary information. Sorry I can't be of more help.
