Oddly enough my partition is also /dev/hda6 Unfortunately I have also some bad blocks on /dev/hda5. Same problem. Trying to fix the problem without -c parameter (e.g. fsck /dev/hda6) is giving me at one point the expected output (Buffer IO error...) when trying to read from the bad sectors.
