It should have nothing to do with it. That is also what i would think.
But it is not what i observed. This observation was made on three
different computers with very different hardware standing in different
houses, all with either a live cd or a fresh installation of ubuntu, and

Hi, I had the same problem.
I used this quick&dirty workaround: since the last step of the boot
process is to launch /etc/rc.local (if enabled), I put a "mount -a"
command before the last "exit 0" command, and it worked. At the end of
the system startup, you will find your remote shares correctly
What exactly mean 'reproduce'...?? Wait for another hang or just run
strace without waiting (now)...??

My mistake, I had attempted to reproduce the problem with the alternate
install when the problem was clearly with the desktop install.

I can confirm this using the 2007-03-11 daily build of the server CD. I
was able to get the system to boot by appending "root=/dev/mapper
/vgtest-lvtest" where vgtest and lvtest were my volume group and logical
volume names.

Compiling the i8042 driver as a module solves the problem on my laptop
(HP NX7400 - ey508es). There's another problem right now. The screen

from the "shipit" site. I installed it on a formatted
clean drive. (Gateway P-4 1.4 Ghz, 256 mb ram, 20 gig
hdd and a nVidia 64 mb graphics card. After a couple
of "installer" crashes

Cold boot the Mac, then you should get the rEFIt screen asking which OS
to load, it'll count down from 20sec, at about 10secs choose Linux or
Windows. When GRUB loads it should also have had long enough to load the
keyboard. Or at least, thats how mine works.

For me the permissions in /usr/lib/cups/backend are wrong. It is another
bug, but 91
I will give those a shot when I get back home (where I have access to
that box). My remote ssh connection doesn't seem to be working properly
right now.
Obviously, when the next herd comes out I can do a fresh load to see if
the problem is fixed as well.
