Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: compiz
With compiz running, open the menu editor and click 'new item'. The
window appears directly behind the menu editor and is visible on the
window list bar. Metacity appears to place the 'new item' window

Okay, when the window is maximized it appears behind the menu editor,
I'll file a bug under the menu editor

Just had the same crash again (searching launchpad for 'similar' bugs

If there's anything more I can get from my system, please let me know
how to get it, and I will do so next time it happens.

Note that this is running on AMD64, and using edgy.
All of the official 6.10 software sources are enabled, as well as
security,recommended, and backported updates.

Hello,
I've actually never heard of the Chenva distribution. Could you please
attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman to this bug? That would help
us better identify the cause of the problem. Thanks!
This page contains detailed information on uploading log files:
Hi,
Is that the entire syslog file? I don't actually see the crash there.
Also I see a series of kernel messages about sdb1:
usb 3-1: USB disconnect, address 2
sd 2:0:0:0: rejecting I/O to device being removed
Buffer I/O error on device sdb1, logical block 247
What is sdb1, the CD-ROM?

I did the same thing as RichardNeill ..
It just happened to me, I figured out that I needed to chmod a+w /dev/null when
I tried to log in from the command prompt... I still can't log in to X
xrdb takes 100 percent of the cpu until I kill it, then I get punted
back to kdm.
when will the fix
That's not an entirely useful description. What errors are given, if
any?
