I can confirm this as well.
This bug throws an error message ata2: reset failed giving up and it
tries to mount the sda devices instead of hda. The bug occurs after
updating the kernel to linux-image-2.6.20-12-generic

rejecting this for the moment :)
Where did you get the USB-PS/2 adapter from? Normally these connectors
are normally passive (they just change the shape of the plug), the
actual computer chip within the mouse is responsible for
no feedback within two months. in the meantime, byte-compilation errors
are ignored on runtime installation.

We now trigger apport rather than popping up our own crash handler, so

Cosmetic improvements to crash
This should be fixed upstream by adding a --default option to telinit;
and have that check things like the kernel command-line, and inittab
file, and then emit the appropriate runlevel event.
rc-default can then just be exec telinit --default

Could this have something to do with the notification area redrawing?
I've seen transparent icons get a background for a couple of seconds
when doing something CPU intensive.
One icon I get almost with this issue is the printer one.
Update notification sometimes is transparent, others isn't.
