It tries to open /usr/share/X11/locale/YourLocale/Compose in

from old distro solved the problem.

That sounds like an issue with i810. I know that I have had that
problem (with various other things, not directly with Desktop Effects)
on an i810 setup with my Toshiba laptop. For example, sometimes
switching from dual-head to single-head and back would make it so that a
reboot was required

This morning my X did not start any more, it complained that userland
needed nvidia ABI 97XX, but the kernel provided 96xx.
The reason is (after some manual experiments) that the X.org driver
module modprobes the 'nvidia' kernel module instead of 'nvidia_new'.

Lilo, LVM and XFS. After upgrade the system stopped booting.

NVidia driver missing libwfb

not), the new 16x16 icons appear to be just resized while the old 16x16
icons seem to be manually tweaked so they look good at such a low

retrieve them or read them. fsck deleted the log files while doing the
2-hour long fixing that essentially removed all files from the hard

I can confirm that this happens on HP Compaq nw8440 as well. I have to
use the fglrx driver for the ATI graphics adapter on Kubuntu Feisty.

cryptsetup, but not with luks. i have to enter the passphrase manually
on boot.
At system start, the bootsplash switches to console, where i can see the
message : Starting
Changed status to confirmed - the new version of network-manager also
fails to show that the connection is active here, when ifconfig clearly
shows that eth0 is connected:
$ ifconfig eth0

Got the same thing, my regular network don't shows up, it says that I am
disconnected. But it still works. And my Access points shows up but they got a
signal strength of 0 and are grey.
