Same problem here. RAID-5 array made from 3 partitions (not whole disks)
sda3 + sdb2 + sdc1 randomly sets one of the devices removed. After
rebuild everything's fine. Takes about one day to strike again. Not
figured out yet, if it corelates with disk stress.

I may have similar problem. I have a Dell Inspiron D600.
I can boot the kernel 2.6.9 but with 2.6.15 the laptop cannot boot.
Simply shows the kubuntu loading screen showing no progress.
If I go to VT1, there are just the very first 2 lines after selecting the
kernel in grub, saying the system is
mpwalter, so you get the broken /proc/cmdline, and you've not even
installed dmraid? This might be a more general problem then.

I experience this problem too. For me it's a real show stopper, I like
the desktop effect especially Expose. But without windows snapping to
the desktop edges, it's something I wouldn't enable.

mpwalter, it would be very interesting to know if it works with the Mandriva
grub, for instance doing something like this:
1. Try installing only the boot loader from Mandriva, by booting the Mandriva
grub, go in command mode and run root to choose the Ubuntu partition and run
setup to install

Same problem here with network-manager (0.6.4-6ubuntu7) and
network-manager-openvpn (0.3.2svn2342-0ubuntu3).
Do you remember what is the last version, witch worked fine?
Is it possible to force Network Manager not to update resolf.conf at
all? If so, I could simply install local dns cache...

Sorry, I was too fast there. In (1) it would install the Ubuntu boot
loader to MBR, even when running the Mandriva grub. You have to do it
more manually, copying the Mandriva stage1 file to the Ubuntu /boot/grub
directory for instance. It might be the setup command can specify the
stage1 to use as
