If you install python2.4 as well it should work. The postinst calls
/usr/bin/python2.4, but only depends on python. At a glance, the
postinst doesn't look necessary any more.

i see no usage of TLS or SSL in rtorrent. openssl routines are used for
hashing, and protocol encryption.
i have built a version of rtorrent, linking against libcurl4, and it works with
no experienced problems.
