Thanks for the bug report. The issue is that the restricted(ati binary)
drivers do not support 3d desktops. However it has been said that the
next release most likely within a month from now will support this.
Also although their is some support for supporting this feature in the
free ati driver

I can confirm this as well. No usplash, but it still boots fine. No
output at all between Grub and GDM login. LiveCD would only boot from
safe graphics mode, but install was smooth. Video drivers were detected
at first login.

Perhaps it's ring? Compiz was using 40something percent of my memory
(roughly 800MB) when leaving it running for a day or two, when I noticed
that I was using Custom Effects. Switching back to Extra Effects,
compiz's memory usage has not climbed above 11 percent in the 12 hours
it's been running.

appropriate monitor and video card? If not, try this.
As per my configuration, my card detected as i810 initially. Then I
changed this to intel. I don't have dell 1100. I have a desktop which

Chuck I think I made a mistake, the module still doesn't load on my system and
when I look at my dmidecode I think the vendor is Lenovo and not IBM anymore.
Also the axis readings need to be inversed so it should be:

If you go to the preferences in nautilus you can set the default zoom
level. I set it to 75% there, but in the actual view itself that option
seems to correspond to 67%..

Finally got my mobile (sony ericsson w880i) to sync with evolution (on
gutsy, using bluetooth). As opensync/multisync0.90 still failed, I
retried multisync and catched the described error ( "Failed to get first

Not sure if this is a kernel issue or an Xorg issue, but since this
kernel came down X has been freezing on me under moderate work loads.
Compiz is running with wobbly windows turned on and I will try to turn
wobbly off to see if that makes a differe

SIGPIPE is a normal signal. If you want to be running X under gdb, you
should probably run this command in gdb:
"handle SIGPIPE nostop noprint pass"
to ignore SIGPIPE and pass it through to the slave program. Otherwise
you'll have false "crashes" that are just the result of hitting th
