upgrading a server not a workstation -- I upgraded the workstations with
upgrade-manager as is recommended and had no problem. The server I
upgraded with do-release-upgrade which is the recommended mechanism for

Same for me. I have a ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY. In Feisty I had a
garbled UI but it was solved using the Blender mesa-static version. That
made me think that it was an incompatibility between my graphics card
and the ATI open driver or OpenGL.
But in Gutsy, neither the 2.44, 2.44-static, 2.45 or

I have been having the same problem as well, and it seem to be pretty
well documented in the Ubuntu Forums. Reic, where did you get the
windows driver you are using? I can't seem to find one that works for
me. There are a lot links for the 8185 and 8187 drivers, but that
doesn't recognize my
as long as usplash doesn't provide sensible input mechanisms for
passwords, I'd vote against such a change.
In fact, I once wrote a patch implementing this, uploaded it to edgy (or
feisty?), and then replaced it with the current patch which terminates
usplash if it is running.

When mounting
I get this too on my T61 every now and then. I never had the patience
to wait 1-2 minutes to see whether my laptop will freeze hard, but at
this point (1) ifconfig/iwconfig hangs on startup, and (2) sudo hangs on
startup without asking for a password, giving me no chance to rmmod or
try to
2 days later. It happened a few more times. New observations:
I can observe three different behaviors when the situation occurs:
* as noted above - I kill start NetworkManager and everything's fine.

* more frequent - the whole OS becomes unstable - I can use

lies not in the Applet because the Problem with the Suspendmodes only
occour when the SBA2 is plugged in. Without the attached SBA, suspend
works fine.

I can reproduce this bug with version 2.12.0-0ubuntu5 of Evolution (that came
with Gutsy).
I am also running on a 64bit platform.
As soon as I click the Reply button the person gets added into my Contacts
list.
The plugin is enabled but by default the check box under preferences is
unchecked
The 24 iMac is the 2. generation, yours does have a Core 2 Duo mine has
a Core Duo, maybe their sound chips are different too.

I ran the command f-spot-sqlite-upgrade, and the problem disappeared.
F-spot did hang/freeze on every third picture imported though (I had to
restart and do the import again), but now all pictures are imported and

Just to be clear in my opinion:
As the VNC parameters are applied in the screen section for a single
display, they should _only_ be used for that screen. If more that one
screen definition exists, the other screen(s) should not be exported via
VNC unless they also have VNC parameters applied
If I run sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg, the new xorg.conf
gives me the same results from when I removed my xorg.conf completely.
gdm is at 1280x768 @ 60 and my maximum resolution when I login is
1280x800 @ 60. Attached are the xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log. Thanks.

How did you send the test page to the PDF printer? If you send it from
system-config-printer (the standard printer setup tool in Ubuntu Gutsy)

I am experiencing the same thing on a just upgraded version of Gibbon.
It's causing a 30 second delay for launching any program and is bad
enough I'm about to stop using Ubuntu. It is compounded by the fact
that my wifi driver (Broadcom 43xx) is shaky at best.

Same problem here. I have a WinXP installation in QEMU that ran
perfectly under feisty. After upgrading to Gutsy, it hangs during boot.
I inserted the WinXP install CD and booted from it. It starts loading
installation files off the CD and then BSOD (page fault).
I reverted QEMU back to 0.8, but
Forgot to add: I'm running QEMU 0.9 + kernel 2.6.22 on my other PC
(which is Gentoo) and it has no problem with running the WinXP QEMU
session. So it seems it is something with Gutsy itself, not kernel or
QEMU 0.9 related.

I can confirm that this bug is still present in Gutsy. It can we solved by
removing the package powernowd.
I'll post the log files you requested.
The kern.log and dmesg.log are in the recovery mode with powernowd installed
after it froze. The others are before that happened, but I don't think
dmesg

This same problem occurs on Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon with Xircom
RealPort REM56G-100 in a Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop. Most likely in
Latitude C series laptops as well since they are virtually identical.
Physically ejecting the card and re-inserting it brings the network
(eth0) up in seconds.

1) [ 0.00] ACPI: BIOS age (1999) fails cutoff (2000), acpi=force is
required to enable ACPI
2) Ubuntu then starts loading, (the orange bar fills in from left to right)
