(0.90.2-0ubuntu1.4) frequently goes "mad" eating 100% CPU for several
minutes or more for no visible reason. clamd consumed cpu time is over

I just forgot to run asoundconf set-default-card to regenerate it. My

Aha, I think a saw these messages now, they fly by pretty fast: "Loading
stage" before the grub menu comes up. I guess if you don't have the

I have investigated this issue on two different laptops... both with fresh
installation of Gutsy.
On both laptops Load_Cycle_Count gets increased by 1 about every minute, which
is very bad...
Invoking 'sudo hdparm -B 255 /dev/sda" solves problem on first laptop.

Thunderbird quits almost every time when attempting to read a mail. This
problem never appeared with previous Ubuntu 6.10 (I never succeeded to install
7.04, Xserver did not started)

the reason for this bug is in the routines of the ddclient perl script that set
the default values for the options.
In this case the timeout for the ssl connection is set to 0 which gives the
above error on Gutsy.
I have not tested what is the effect of the other default values that are set
