Just confirmation: Fresh installation of Gutsy (20071016.1) on VBI
custom notebook (Asmobile S96S chassis). After configuring network wia
K-System settings-Network settings Konqueror did not open standard web

You only need to install g++-multilib and ia32-libs. However there is no
ia32-libs-dev package (and no plan to create one). Just using the 64bit
system headers may lead to unexpected results.

There's no easy way to fix this. gcc-4.1 suggests gcc-4.1-multilib; we
cannot recommend it, or else gcc-4.1-multilib is installed as a part of
the install recommends by default specification. In feisty we had a
dangling symlink in gcc-4.1 instead, when lib64gcc1 was not installed.

I have Ubuntu 7.10. I wanted to install some Macedonian fonts, so I went
to Appearance - Fonts - Details - Go to Fonts Folder and copied
several .ttf fonts.
The situation is that when I restarted there is no menu on my Desktop,
only a wallpaper.
I can't find an answer for

does the problem still exist?
does it completely hand? can you switch to a virtual console using
ctrl+alt+f1?
hav you checked your memory?
have you checked over heating problems? try installing boinc and heat up
your CPU a bit ;-)

Yes, I was able to reproduce this. I'll debug it ASAP.
However, do you get no sound at all when calling? (e.g. when calling 333)
I do not get sound for dialpad, however audio for calls is working.
I have the same problem. NetworkManager eats up most of the CPU and after some
time the system becomes quite slow.
If I kill it with killall -9 NetworkManager and start it again it is OK. But
this has happened to me several times already!
I am running Kubuntu 7.10 (with all updates up to today
I can confirm that when using the hardware off switch for the card, then
stopping the network and unloading the module works.
The crash interval seems to be accelerated when using vpn, perhaps because the
nic is under heavier load? Crashed 3 times since my last post.
