SOLVED.
My problem was dued to ATi drivers previously installed from ATi packager 's
.debs and not to envy ones!
I had installed Cat 8.4 from ATi build .deb to test them out.
Unfortunatly diversion on file LibGL.so.1 wasn't removed by ATi deb uninstall.
The result was a corrupted system.
I have found that there is a button to leave full screen mode only when
I enable the navigation toolbar, which is then displayed in full screen
mode. So Firefox doesn't provide you with any kind of visual toolbar to
click on in full screen mode in ubuntu is wrong.

I have the same problem and it seems to be caused by the video card
(i915). I changed the driver to vesa in xorg.conf and it booted just

I have this issue (8.04). I did not have it in previous releases 7.10, 7.04.
CPU goes very high.
Very noticable with dirs of 1000+ entries.
Affects Rhythmbox, Firefox and Nautilus to a lesser extent.
Please re-open and fix. This is a serious issue.
Is it related to the 25 year old BSD bug?
Regarding the previous post- Perhaps I am writing junk- rereading this bug
suggests that this issue is from way back and probably completely unrelated
to the BSD link I added.
Nevertheless the issue remains on Hardy for me.

Did anyone try adding -dvd-device to the mplayer or gmplayer start
command?
I found in Hardy that this command won't work:
gmplayer dvd://1
It results in the error No stream found to handle url dvd://1
However, this command works:
gmplayer -dvd-device /dev/scd0 dvd://1

No stream found

before I install myspell-fr I had nothing at all: SpellCheck don't see
anything.
- with myspell-fr it works for some words but not for all. For example it don't
recognize à very common in French!
- with myspell-fr-gut it's much more better but some words are still not
recognize.

Expected behavior: Anagramarama will play nice with my computer. It
will not cause issues with my display.
Actual Result: Upon starting the anagramarama application the video goes
blank. It comes back, but if the application is left open,
Unfortunately, all_generic_ide seems to reduce performance drastically.
Everything disk intensive (update-manager, firefox, etc) becomes really
slow. Seems like top reports a lot of hi time (hardware interrupts?).
I have thus gone back to the default, slow booting.

According to what Dusan said, it originally pointed to libnvidia-
wfb.so.169.12.
I'd guess this is the /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libnvidia-wfb.so.169.12
provided in the nvidia-glx-new package.

~/.local/share/applications/transmission-gtk-usercustom.desktop
fixes the problem for me.
