I found a very simple and safe workaround.
1) Open Tbird.
2) Change Windowmanger (e.g. compiz to metacity). You can do this easily
utilizin Compiz Fusion Icon.
3) Now should be able to resize the window.
4) Change back to your original Windowmanager.

from the mail server... If it doesn't work there will be an error saying
it could not connect or so

I found this bug as well when I first tried to add a VPN, but I (or a
friend of mine really) found a way around it without having to do a full
restart. I just went to the terminal and typed
sudo /etc/init.d/dbus restart
and then restarted the network manager with
nm-applet
the only problem is

I see that it's recognized by the kernel, but doesn't fully
initialize... Could you please try upgrading your kernel to 2.6.24-17
(which I believe is the current) and let me know if your having the same
issue? There have been a few reports about this network driver with
previous kernel versions
