l10n was not present in versions prior to hardy, thus it will not cause
update issues, the files provided by -l10n are in hardy also provided by

Nicolas, thanks for catching that mistake in the changelog file. This is
the first merge I have done where grab-merge.sh has failed to place the
changelog entries in the correct order. In this new debdiff, I have
manually gone and sorted the entries by date. Also, from what I have

I'm curious, as I installed standard 8.04 (although it was an update to
7.10) and i don't know how the "-3g" was lost at some point ???

OK, just a follow up to this - I see the same behaviour on a full
installer ather than running from the CD; however looking at the log
files it looks like Intrepid isn't enabling AGP for some reason - I'm
not sure whether to kick this off as a separate Intrepid bug or just
keep it with this one.

I did have sound with a similar configuration.
However, after disabling ESD and alsa-utils (trying to debug another problem) I
lost sound.
Configuration files resemble the above. Software seems to recognize everything,
but no sound.

I installed kubuntu-desktop, choose kdm as default window manager. after
installing i am not able to login as the "primary" user neither using
kdm nor using gdm. after trying to log in i find in auth.log:

The previous test was done with a DVD+RW and the crash might have been related
to read errors.
Therefore I repeated the test with a CD-RW and now the laptop does not crash
any more, but the original problem still seems to exist.
