I've got that bug too, and I'll try to describe it more carefully.
If I start up Banshee music player and listen to some songs, then try to
play a video on Youtube, there will be no audio in the video. If I close
Banshee, there will still be no sound.

Really, the answer is simple. If firefox cannot be modified to remove
the EULA and then distributed legally by Ubuntu, it is simply not free
software. Thus it should be in restricted or multiverse, and subject to
the same reduced support. In particular, the default installation should

I also tried the suspend with Alpha5 Live-CD. I confirm the same
problem. When the laptop comes back the screen is black. I had to press
and hold power to restart.

I was not able to reproduce the error with ffplay, neiter with current
SVN nor with the version in intrepid. I therefore conclude that ffmpeg
is not at fault here.
I also tried to call /usr/bin/gnome-video-thumbnailer as indicated in
the bug description, but wasn't able to reproduce the crash
The workaround is very simple. Just change the rights of the smb.conf file. The
group should be adm and the rights for the group should be set to rw. In
commands:
sudo chgrp adm /etc/samba/smb.conf
sudo chmod g+w /etc/samba/smb.conf
Then it works for me.

Could the new systray applet be backported from KDE trunk to a usable

really? when i used the live cd, there was no sound when i went to the
test sound, and there were no visual effects. does everything just fix
itself somehow after you install it???
