I did an test today - took the harddisk (with debian unstable) from the
other, working machine, plugged it into the new machine, booted,
adjusted BusID parameters in xorg.conf and X-Windows worked! On both

Recently the Hardy 8.04 updates have been breaking PC's and Notebooks.

I don't fully get the comment ;)
Seems fixed in Jaunty, Interpid package still has these // comments
(http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/libsdl1.2-dev), but that's
insignificant at the moment.

As for not forcing it on the user, we wouldn't have to. It could be
enabled or disabled, very easily, from Alacarte. So it would depend on
the distributions (or the users themselves) to show it by default or
not.

Ath5k driver is generating excessive interupts when idle and keeping
I have no problems with Hardy but with Intrepid one error appears in the
console (CTRL+ALT+F1). When the connection is impossible the error is:
iwl3945: Not a valid iwl3945_assoc_rxon_cmd field values
iwl3945: Invalid RXON configuration. Not committing.
