Epiphany-webkit can't be installed since Python 2.6 arrived in Jaunty.
The update broke many packages but it seems like epiphany-webkit is one
of the last to remain unfixed

You're correct, when I select the batch-scan option in the "Scan
Options" dialog, the problem is fixed. Perhaps some logic could be added

I have the same issue (or similar) with 9.04 alpha 5 on a amd64. For me,
the quick search only shows installed packages, regardless of number of
letters entered, but the search feature will work for one letter

I apologise that your bug report was dealt with by somebody apparently
