Similar error here on Acer Aspire 4710, but boots into the laptop
alright. Just shows these warning signs and says something like could
affect performance and then boots into Kubuntu 9.10 alpha 6 with all the
latest updates.

It crashed again overnight. While I couldn't figure out how to run
xrestop from a virtual console, I did run top -b -d 2 -n 5 in case it
helps.
If you can tell me if I can run xrestop from a virtual console, I'll try
that the next time it freezes.

I have the same problem. I have Anthy selected as IME, and I can type
Japanese and activate and deactivate the IME using Ctrl+Space, but it
does not show the candidate list or the language panel.

The Karmic alpha 6 graphical installer asks the user to select his
timezone. Based on the language selected on the page before that, it
appears to suggest a sensible default timezone. This seems to work well
for, say, Dutch, but for English however, it suggests a timezone in
Investigating the problem, I have found out that none of the numbered
sub-folders in my ~/.gconf/system/networking/connections/ folder was
referring to my wired network interface (named iirc Auto eth0). That could
easily explain the troubles I had when trying to change any settings related to
chrismine, thannks for the confirmation.

One is for kde, the other for gnome. This should be cleared up somehow.
This isn't such a bad thing as one of the apps gui's will use gtk, the
other will use qt. This stops the need for installing qt on gnome or gtk

changing my screen resolution for me at login time. Xsplash doesn't seem

Im not sure about what fix it , yesturday a play a bit with xrandr, today I
start reading and moving to
reinstall opencrhome ,as debug .(it was already install anyways)
I hade a few erros, most of them regarding missng svn ,and other stuf regading
install.

I'm seeing the same issue on Karmic Alpha 6, with all latest updates
today..
Hardware is IBM x24
There is no crash so a backtrace is not a posibility.

In Karmic, after recent updates, my USB devices don’t work in X after
disconnecting/reconnecting them.
If I switch to a console and back, then they start working again. This
seems to apply only to input devices (at least a keyboard and mouse) – a
bluetooth dongle continues
I think this dd command should erase all data on / or accordingly /home
to prevent any possible unintentional data recovery of stuff that were
on the machine before encrypting first.
the command is not the problem. Security first.
But there is NO visual FEEDBACK of the installation progress,

I installed an old version of nm-applet (the one from jaunty). And now I
can connect without any problem. So I think the problem is in one of the
last updates of nm-applet.
