For a configuration files (among others) to be recreated at reinstall
the original package need to be purge. The file /etc/mysql/my.cnf belong

- Can you read other DVD disks? or other types of files (e.g. text files)?
- Try burning those same images on a DVD from inside of Ubuntu (using Brasero
Disk Burner for example) and see if this problem is still present
(alternatively,
same in 9.10 beta1 and asus laptop.

After installing the latest updates on karmic koala my WLAN-connection
failed. I tried to set it up new but when I try to save it it doesn't
work. when I try to connect to a hidden network it works for a minute
but then the WPA2-password gets lost and I have to enter it again
