In fact, I've reported the bug with another pc, with the same karmic version...
that's why the printer doesn't appear...
I can't provide more information because I hade to send the printer back.
I've tried 48, by all means, to get it work, without result...
I've also tried with the version on
Sorry - I don't know. This is a new backup protocol following two bad
experiences with tape mechanisms, so I have only been doing it for a
couple of months, and only on this version.
If there is still a gutsy box around at work I will try the test script
on that next week.

This is no substitute for a real package but as a workaround you can

sudo rm libbfd-2.19.1.so
sudo ln -s libbfd-2.19.91.20091006.so libbfd-2.19.1.so
libbfd-2.19.1.so is just a link to the real shared object which broke
since the real one was renamed.

Ok, blacklisting rt2800usb works for me.
I would suggest creating a new file in sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/ like
blacklist-rt2800usb.conf because blacklist.conf can be overwritten
when the package is updated and you would have to do your changes again.

Well I got another guy on the ubuntu-fr.org forum that confirm tis
behaviour :
Some applications windows get the wrong size in UNR 9.04 and not in
normal Ubuntu 9.04.
I did not try UNR 9.10 since I use this on my work laptop, but again
normal 9.10 is still ok.
By the way, on my laptop the UNR
I was not doing anything in particular when this happened. I had just
logged in, and my locale is en_DK. Normal Swedish keyboard is default.
Although I have the possibility to switch to Chinese IM, it was not
active at the time.

Finally found solution and compisite is fully functional.
Solution is to disable PAT support in kernel command line.
Edit file /etc/default/grub and add:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=nopat
Then run update-grub as root and reboot.

I compared the list of files for amd64 and i386 of the virtual linux
flavours 2.6.31-14.47. The difference is huge. It seems that the compete
kernel/fs is missing in the i386 version of the deb.
Or am I misreading something?
