Karmic update: you do not need workarounds to suspend or resume in
karmic. But sometimes you may experience no connection after resume... I
think it is another problem since /etc/init.d/NetworkManager restart

I had been running 9.04 with no problems, then today tried installing
the 9.10 release (two hard drives, Ubuntu on the 2nd) and got this "GRUB
loading" very slow boot. On top of that Firefox hangs, as does

Good news.. I just figured out that running "killall gnome-panel" twice kills
gnome-panel and it stops reopening.
With that I could run the full 'strace' and the 'gdb'
Both gziped in attach!
Also, running it ind commandline, I got this and it stops as expected.

After upgrading from Ubuntu 9.04->9.10 today, I got this problem on my
laptop (stock Acer Aspire 5500Z). Upgrading then rebooting, I was
presented with a white splash screen, frozen. After some time, it timed
out and dropped me into busybox.
There is some sort of odd bug where the kernel is unable
today flesh installed 9.10 release.
It will not hibernate no suspend.
though it did not work
But it is great that it just turn the LCD monitor off and light up when I move
a mouse or press key.
It prompt me with the login window.
In Power management it has no menu to set suspend or hibernation

Since upgrading to Karmic, Hibernate doesn't seem to work - instead, it
locks the screen. After clicking/pressing 'the any key', the login
screen pops up. After having tried to Hibernate, shutting down doesn't
