I had the same symptoms on my Asus m2a-vm hdmi (AMD 690G) board. I
tried the i386 and AMD64 iso and neither worked from install from boot
or install from live ubuntu. I wouldn't say that the prepare partitions
screen hung, rather that the list of partitions/devices was empty.

I just added a faul simulation for this to my fault-injecting-proxy
project at lp:~mvo/+junk/fault-injecting-proxy

I was very surprised to see the inverse search for pdf working with okular and
kile in
kubuntu 9.10. necessarily I need to say; great job
I hate to use dvi because only support 1 graphics format and with pdf you can
have
almos twhatever you want.
Unfortunately, I can't get to work
Similar (same?) problem. Running Karmic x64:
- Login window appears
- Put in password, hit enter
- Looks like it is loading, but returns me to login
This will happen anywhere from 3-10+ times before it logs me in. It
isn't an auth failure as I deliberately entered in wrong credentials and

I've been trying to find the reason for this bug since karmic-alpha6
with no success... Maybe it's not a bug, but a new (weird) feature.
What happens is that whenever I use sudo (to install/update/modify
something), it changes the default modes to

I first tried to use the system without Ethernet.
Next I plugged Ethernet and installed all the available updates.
Finally I tried to unplug Ethernet, reboot the system but I had no
networks list.
