*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 440470 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/440470
I'm marking this bug as a duplicate of bug #440470 since the error message is
virtually the same(SMB1 vs SMB2 is the only difference).
Please follow the conversation in the other bug report instead.\
I'm marking bug #440780 as a duplicate of this bug. It has almost the same
error message:
[ 6.618133] parport0: PC-style at 0x378, irq 7 [PCSPP,TRISTATE]
[ 6.629604] i2c-adapter i2c-0: nForce2 SMBus adapter at 0x600
[ 6.629610] ACPI: I/O resource nForce2_smbus [0x700-0x73f] conflicts with ACPI
I've just tried this on 10.04 and I can't seem to be able to reproduce
it.

This bug affects me as well. I have detailed this behavior in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+bug/486482 and will
make it depend on this one (presuming I have the privs to do so).
Output when this occurred from terminal window:

Hi Chris,
I'm not really shure, it seems really strange... When I look in some other
bugreports it seem's any people have the same problem like mine. So there is
also someone with an workaround using GDM instead of KDM. I will try to test it
also, but today I try to startup directly with

I concur with Arecross' analysis. Could it be that Ubuntu is not
releasing the sound card resources correctly?
