external monitor when you connect it. However, you seem to suggest that

I do find Launchpad quite confusing however I believe the last update on
this was around 3 years ago? It also says fix released but I'm getting

After a kernel upgrade came along on November 26, 2009, the lirc trick
above using the ir_kbd_i2c module ceased to work. I no longer get a
device (/dev/input/event#) on installing (modprobe) the ir_kbd_i2c
module. I am still trying to figure out why.

Since today I do not have access any more to my NAS.
Reading this and other forum entries and trying some described solutions did
not help to fix my problem.
Situation:
System : Ubuntu 9.10
NAS : WD MyBook Word Edition II
/etc/fstab:

Got this one sorted. Connection to network is fine with both Network
Manager and WICD if you select a static IP. The fault would seem to be
not with either package but elsewhere in Ubuntu unless they contain the
same bug which seems highly unlikely. My setting are in IPv4.

On my MacbookPro 4.1, this bug appears in the messages log once or twice
per day, but does not noticeably affect performance. The "GPE storm
detected" usually appears near the message "applesmc: light sensor data
